Yogurt is Great for Kids’ Teeth

Want to help your children improve their oral health?  Try serving more yogurt.  Research has shown a link between yogurt consumption and fewer dental cavities.  Children who consumed yogurt 4 or more times a week were found to have significantly fewer cavities that those children who consumed it less than once a week.  Yogurt was found to have a much higher effect than other dairy products like butter, cheese, and milk in curbing cavities.  This is because the protein in yogurt binds to the surface of teeth creating a seal to protect from harmful acids.  Beware, however, of yogurt products containing higher levels of added sugar, and opt for a healthier choice.
